Kansas State and Wake Forest Face Off for Right to Play at Golden 1 Center

Facing off in the First Four of the NCAA Tournament, the winner of this matchup will go on to face No. 6 seed Cincinnati at Golden 1 Center on Friday, March 17. The tournament has seen 46 upsets by an 11-seed and six-seed since 1985, so it’s safe to say the victor will be considered a possible sleeper in the tournament.

Get to Know Kansas State

Coached by Bruce Weber, the Kansas State Wildcats head into this matchup following a 20-win season that included upsets over Baylor and West Virginia. Starting three sophomores- Dean Wade, Kamau Stokes and Barry Brown – this team is young but mature and plays smart on defense. Be on the lookout for them to shut people down on the boards.

Get to Know Wake Forest

Led behind sophomore star forward John Collins, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons will certainly put up a fight to stay in the Big Dance. Averaging nearly 20 points and 9.8 rebounds per game, Collins has been dominant on the glass. Head Coach Danny Manning and his team have a pattern playing from the inside-out all season long. They could use this to their advantage over Kansas State, who lacks a dominant post presence.
