Sacramento, Calif. – Today, Golden 1 Center announced next year’s premier college basketball match up when two National powerhouse schools – Kansas and Stanford – showdown at Golden 1 Center. Together, the two teams have 61 appearances in the NCAA Men’s National Championship Tournament. Both teams will take the hardwood at the world’s most sustainable and advanced sports and entertainment venue on December 21.
In addition to Stanford vs. Kansas, Golden 1 Center will continue to host the neutral-site, preseason duel between Sacramento State and UC Davis in November.
“Golden 1 Center continues to be a spectacular venue for athletes and fans,” said Golden 1 Center General Manager Juan Rodriguez. “We’re proud to host student-athletes and future stars from around the country and introduce them to the best of Sacramento.”
“This is great for Stanford and great for college basketball,” said Stanford Head Coach Jerod Haase. “We are excited to have the Jayhawks be a part of our nonconference schedule each of the next four seasons and have the opportunity to showcase our program in three very exciting venues at Stanford, Kansas and in Sacramento. We look forward to representing Stanford in California’s state capitol and playing in Golden 1 Center, one of the nation’s newest and most innovative basketball arenas.”
“We’re excited to play in one of the country’s premier arenas,” said Kansas Head Coach Bill Self. “The trip to Northern California may have a home-court feel for them, but it is an atmosphere and an energy that we can’t wait to be a part of.”
