From a six-second Vine covering Sam Smith’s “Stay with Me” to becoming one of pop music’s biggest heartthrobs overnight; Shawn Mendes has had one phenomenal journey.
In just four years, Shawn Mendes has proved to the world that he is more than just another singer, but is a multi-talented artist. His start on Vine in 2013 covering popular songs gained him thousands of followers, giving his musical career a jumpstart. Now, Mendes is selling out arenas, and garnering some of the most recent chart-topping singles.
In a recent interview with Clash Magazine, Mendes speaks on his career and goals so far. “I want to create anthems for people. I want to create anthems for big moments in their lives,” he enthuses. “I don’t want my music to play for a few months and then go away forever. And not only that, I want to do incredible things that make a difference too. I think it’s not only about the music you release, it’s about the things you do while you’re making the music.”
The singer-songwriter has been recognized by many for his style and music. Camilla Cabela, the Queen of England, and even his idol John Mayer have said kind words about the 19-year-old. Quoted by TIME, Mayer wrote, “[Mendes] knows that music is good shelter from its own associated nonsense, and his devotion to his craft is exactly why people twice his age are welcoming him into their lives and playlists.”
His new highly anticipated album comes out on May 25 and we can’t wait to hear the singer live, right here at Golden 1 Center in the summer of 2019!
