Sacramento, CA – Today, the Sacramento Kings announced two more regional honors that salute the team’s efforts to impact the region through Golden 1 Center. The Sacramento Kings have been regarded as one of the most forward-thinking organizations and venues in the world, winning the Sacramento Business Environmental Resource Center 2017 Sustainable Business Award for Energy Conservation, and selected as one of the region’s Best Real Estate Projects by the Sacramento Business Journal. Downtown’s transformation and evolution are connected to Golden 1 Center, raising the city’s profile with innovative and sustainable real estate developed in a way to benefit the city, and changing the way developers think about facilitating and accelerating commercial and residential building.

Environmentally innovative and unique, Golden 1 Center utilizes state-of-the-art energy saving concepts, like a displacement ventilation system, and massive hangar doors that allow the arena to cool naturally using The Delta Breeze. Designed to be efficient in every way, Golden 1 Center gives green sports and entertainment a new standard. Ranking in the top 3 percent of high-performance buildings worldwide, the arena has earned top honors, including being named as one of 2017’s Best Projects by ENR California Magazine.
As Golden 1 Center reaches its one-year mark, the venue has received praise from around the world, highlighting Sacramento once again. From inception, the project was designed to capitalize on a once-in-a-generation opportunity and create a catalytic effect for the region.In the past year, 4,000 permanent jobs and 80 new businesses have been created, raising downtown Sacramento’s property value to $1.24 billion.
Over 200 events – concerts, family shows, live action sports, and private community events – have been held in the arena during its inaugural year. Events featuring world-class performers have already been booked for 2018 and March Madness will return to Sacramento in 2020, following last year’s success and $10 million impact on the regional economy.
