The Green Sports Alliance will be presenting its first Environmental Innovators of the Year Award and Golden 1 Center has been announced as a finalist for the NBA.
Winners chosen for this particular award are those who demonstrate a true dedication to the green movement across their organization and operations.
Golden 1 Center has implemented programs to help reduce waste, conserve water and energy, and cut back on the overall carbon footprint many construction projects often leave behind.
In addition to being LEED Gold-certified, the building aims to reflect the fabric of Northern California by utilizing regionally sources materials that range from glass to recycled aluminum to precast concrete.
The Miami Heat/American Airlines Center and Portland Trail Blazers/Moda Center are also up for the award in the NBA category. Winners will be announced at the Green Sports Celebration in Houston on Wednesday, June 29th.
