The Chainsmokers Lead Field of Nominees at 2017 Billboard Awards

By Jonathan Santiago

Several Golden 1 Center performers, past and present, are in the running to take away some major hardware at this year’s Billboard Awards.

With 22 nominations, The Chainsmokers are one of the biggest nominees at this year’s event. The production duo compromised of Alex Pall and Drew Taggart could walk away with trophies for top artist, top hot 100 artist, top streaming song and much more. The Chainsmokers earned breakaway hits this past year such as their song “Closer” featuring Halsey and just released their debut album “Memories...Do Not Open”.

In addition to The Chainsmokers, Bruno Mars, Lionel Richie, Enrique Iglesias and Chris Tomlin are other artists with upcoming dates at Golden 1 Center nominated at this year’s Billboard Awards. Other notable nominees include Ariana Grande, Twenty One Pilots, Eric Church and Blake Shelton - all of whom had tour dates here in Sacramento.
