Jay-Z Pays Tribute to Chester Bennington To Close Out Show

By Sydney Zuelke

For many artists, "encore" simply means returning to the stage to play one final song for your devoted audience.

For Jay-Z, "encore" means something more.

Sunday night, the tenured rapper brought his 4:44 Tour to Sacramento. To end an already incredible night, the rapper paid tribute to Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington, who tragically passed away in July of this year.

Before performing Encore, Jay-Z's own song mixed with Linkin Park's hit single Numb, he gave a message.

"You just never know what's going on with people," he begins. "Happiness is on the inside, it's not what you wear, it's not your status in life — it's how you feel inside."

He continues: "This next song, we're going to celebrate his life [...] Light it up for him tonight."
