Kings Unveil New Court
On Wednesday the Sacramento Kings released a rendering of their court for the upcoming season, and it’s beautiful! The new hardwood will feature a 20-foot Kings primary logo at its center along with Golden 1 Center branding near each sideline.
The center logo – atop Sacramento elm – places the region at its heart, while most of the floor is made of sustainably-harvested maple.
The squad makes its debut in the new venue on Oct. 10 in its preseason contest with Israel’s Maccabi Haifa.
Parking Details Revealed
The Sacramento City Counsel unanimously voted to increase parking rates in public garages surrounding Golden 1 Center.
The decision came on Tuesday night and prices are expected to be $15 when events are sold at 85% capacity or more. In addition, the city has rolled out a prepaid parking program for event nights, and with it, you could reserve a space ahead of time at a lower cost.
Police Laying Out Security Plan
As construction of Golden 1 Center moves into its final stages, the community is taking a closer look at the logistics of getting around on an event night.
Seeing law enforcement presence at a venue is standard practice in sports and entertainment, and it’s time for the Sacramento Police Department to start training in the new building.
“This is a big change in the landscape in downtown,” Police Sgt. Bryce Heinlein told CBS Sacramento’s Lemor Abrams. In addition to ensuring guest safety, the department is also working with city officials to develop a traffic control plan.
While the downtown area expects to see many people during events, fans can be assured SPD will be ready to help manage the crowd.
New Venue Gets Its Own Beer
The Kings partnered with well-known brewery Sierra Nevada to bring a draught house and specialty beer to Golden 1 Center.
Executive Chef Michael Tuohy and the brewing company designed a limited-release blonde ale that will be available exclusively at the arena, while the draught house will sit on the bridge above the building’s grand entrance.
This setup gives a new meaning to the saying, “Kick back and enjoy the game,” and fans are sure to love it!
UFC Is Coming
Not only will the WWE bring its No Mercy show to Golden 1 Center this year, the UFC announced a December 17 matchup would be held at the new venue.
In a statement from the UCF, Vice President Dave Sholler said Sacramento “has an incredible new arena to go along with some of the most passionate fight fans in the world.” He’s right. Whether it’s wrestling or mixed-martial arts, the action is captivating.
“We are thrilled to bring a high-energy UFC event back to Sacramento,” said Kings President Chris Granger.
