'A Star Is Born' As Lady Gaga Debuts In Her First Feature Film Role
By Amanda Maxwell
In the remake of a 1937 classic, A Star Is Born, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper co-star and sing together in the romantic musical. This is the first movie role for Gaga and the first time Cooper has directed a film.
The trailer opens with Cooper’s character, Jackson Maine, a country singer-songwriter performing at a concert. Maine’s life changes when he meets Gaga’s character, Ally, a struggling artist performing at a local club.
"I don't sing my own songs. I just don't feel comfortable," she tells Maine. "Almost every single person has told me they liked the way I sounded but they didn't like the way I look."
Maine then replies, “I think you’re beautiful.”
The trailer continues with a montage of the two as they fall in love and perform original music.
“Lady Gaga also wrote a handful of original songs for the film with Cooper and other artists, including Lukas Nelson, Jason Isbell and Joanne collaborator Mark Ronson. All of the movie's music is original and was recorded live.” - Rolling Stone
Gaga shows her appreciation for the film on Twitter, calling it a “dream come true and an honor” and sharing her excitement for us to meet Jack and Ally.
It’s a dream come true and an honor to be a part of this incredible movie. Bradley's ability as a director, actor and musician is astounding. It’s called “A Star Is Born,” and I’m beyond thrilled for you to meet Jack and Ally. #AStarIsBorn https://t.co/L1rIawrzJ4
